Cern teams up with Italian producer Dabs for a killer release on Ant TC-1’s Dispatch Recordings. Channelling the same sentiment as the protagonist of Conrad’s “Heart Of Darkness”, “Oh The Horror” kicks off with mumuring metallic SFX, sci-fi synths and pelting drums and develops into a souped up slice of futuristic funk, with driving energy and enough bass to make you foam at the mouth. Dark and heavy with a menacing undercurrent, this is darkside D&B at its best and most poignant. “Back & Forth”, on the other hand, is a more stripped back venture, with a tense intro, ticking percussion and a roughed up Jubei style patina.
